Although Taufik Hidayat becomes a pro badminton player, but he is not yet retired from badminton game. His age is only 27 years old and still get the respect from top badminton players. Taufik Hidayat still has the hunger to win badminton trophies, especially All England Open Badminton Championship, which is the only badminton title he has never won.

Taufik Hidayat decision to become a professional badminton game player was a surprise for me. In short term, not good for national badminton team, but in the long term, it would be good for us. Taufik Hidayat Win Macau Open 2008

Who won Macau Open Badminton Championship 2008 ?

the winner is Taufik Hidayat. Yes, finally my favorite badminton player won a trophy after a bad performance in 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Taufik Hidayat beat Lee Chong Wei with 21-19 21-15. This result was a surprise for two reasons:

• Taufik Hidayat performances are not good this year
• Lee Chong Wei ranking is higher than Taufik Hidayat ranking

Hopefully, this match result would postpone Taufik Hidayat retirement plan, because he is still number one Indonesia's badminton player.

Beijing Olympic Gold Medal for Badminton Team

Finally, the first Beijing Olympic gold medal for Indonesia's badminton team. This first Olympic gold was won by Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan. They won against badminton men's doubles from China, Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, with rubber set 12-21 21-11 21-16. What a fantastic performance by world number one in badminton men's doubles.

If Uber Cup is for women, Thomas Cup is World Men's Team Championships. If China badminton team has dominated the Uber Cup but for Thomas Cup, it is belong to Indonesia badminton team. Indonesia has won thirteen Thomas Cup titles and China is only six titles.
